Our special guest this week, Ann Handley, claims the distinction of being the world’s first Chief Content Officer, a title she holds at Marketing Profs. Ann is a co-founder of ClickZ and formerly a reporter for the Boston Globe and other publications. She is also a columnist for Entrepreneur magazine, a keynote speaker, and co-author of the best-selling Content Rules with C.C. Chapman and author of Everybody Writes, Your Go-To Guide To Creating Ridiculously Good Content.
Ann founded ClickZ in 1997 to teach business owners how to utilize the new world of the internet as a marketing tool. She successfully ran the company until she sold it in 2000 and then joined MarketingProfs in 2002.
In Ann’s book, Everybody Writes, she demonstrates the need for everyone, whether they are writing a book, blog post, or a Twitter update, to ensure that everything they write is furthering their story, and therefore, their brand. While some businesses are raising the bar on content marketing, Ann feels there are still a lot of businesses falling short on content quality. Everybody Writes was written for those struggling with creating consistent, valuable content. Listen in for Ann’s tips and tactics for creating quality content so that your business can be seen as an authority in its field.
